Thriller Opening: Quantum of Solace Analysis

The narrative centre's around murders and crime, the main character is the antagonist who is introduced at the beginning. He is shown moving through different situations, sometimes seen as the dominant character and others when he is in danger. In the previous scene, the car chase shows the rivalry between the protagonist and antagonist who are both shown in peril at some point. The ordinary situation of when driving normally but quickly becomes a car chase. This shows how quickly the antagonist can become in danger.

The non-diegetic sound in the sequence builds suspense and expectancy. It makes the sequence seem more dramatic and intensifies the action, leaving the audience wanting to watch on. The camerawork shows many close ups of guns and bullets being fired shows there will be suggestions of death and destruction. The antagonist commonly wears a suit, when he is at work to show his business-like approach. However he does like to mix business with pleasure of seducing girls, usually associated with the enemy. But he has the ability to work his way out of a bad situation at any point.
